And another great actor shuffles off. An actor who, in my admittedly feeble mind, appears in only two modes: a chap in a white suit ordering about a midget-man on Fantasy Island, and as that arch-nemesis of Captain Kirk: Khan Noonian Singh.

Khan, the flamboyant genetic superman that fell for the frail charms of Marla MacGuyver. Khan, the intellectual genius foiled by not thinking in three dimensions. Khan, driven to failure by obsession with revenge. The character was made for, and made by, Ricardo. Truly one of those roles where it’s unimaginable to picture any other actor in the role.
