BBC NEWS | England | Agencies branded ‘waste of money’.

“It said RDAs were “riddled” with waste and excess, including extravagant trips abroad, lavish conferences and “ludicrous” taxi expenses.”

It’s pointed out that £8bn has been attracted to 250k businesses, due to the efforts of Regional Development Agencies. However, it’s claimed that the RDAs themselves have consumed £15bn of tax payers’ money in costs. Not a fair exchange, by anyone’s reckoning.
